About our B & B

The property is a 7 bedroom town house, originally built in the late Victorian / early Edwardian period circa. 1899-1902, located on a well-respected street in the town connecting Cardiff Road with the old Miners ' Hospital [since closed].  Caerphilly Golf Club's course  is located at rear, but is not accessible from the property.

The property and the hospitality might be a little 'quirky' at times, but that is part-and-parcel of the character and ambience of this family guest house. Try and be flexible and keep an open mind, but feel free to point out faults and shortcomings.

Rooms are changed around, furnishings replaced, periodically. Most up to date pictures appear on booking.com. Tripadvisor is notorious for displaying pictures well over 10 years old, without any real right to remove or reply. I do not actively engage with Tripadvisor.

Steve Anderson is the proprietor; he hails not from Caerphilly , nor Wales! Steve is a 'Scotsman' without an accent!

Steve has lived abroad extensively, with a serviceman's  background, and having taught history (amongst other things) in Kenya, Kuwait, Peru and Dubai. Steve describes himself as cheerful, fair, reasonable, pragmatic (no nonsense / no frills), helpful, honest and hard-working.  I chose this vocation as it allows me to meet and interact with people from all walks of life and countries. I like a cosmopolitan atmosphere, and get a thrill from hosting people here for special events i.e. rugby internationals, Big Cheese, Tour of Britain, Proms, Continental Markets, Bonfire night etc! Enjoy your stay, make the best of it!

ESSENTIAL INFORMATION: NON-SMOKING PREMISES

THE LAW [AND BUSINESS INSURANCE] REQUIRES THAT THE GUEST HOUSE IS A NON-SMOKING & NO VAPE PROPERTY.

Quality and service

Visit Wales Approved. Ref: B203947

The business is principally a Bed and Breakfast facility, not a hotel with associated facilities. It is owned and run by myself.

It is not typically expected that guests occupy rooms for the main part of the day. Windows are opened and rooms attended to between 10.30 and 13.00.

The property is approximately 120 years old, so its character and construction reflects this.

I try to provide guests with :

The breakfast service , premises and location are 'Unique Selling Points'.  I would describe breakfast as a standard cooked 'English' breakfast. Please advise in advance if special dietary/ allergy needs.
